Improving safe supply

It is a complex and demanding task to restructure existing power networks from 220 kV to 380 kV. SAG happily faced the challenge.

The aim of the joint project of the network operators EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, EnBW Transportnetze AG and EnBW Regional AG is to restructure parts of the networks from 220 kV to 380 kV. With the implementation, a sustainable supply in these regions is ensured, in light of the increasing power transportation. Furthermore, the scope and complexity of the network are significantly reduced and the network capacity is adapted to the strengthened local supply as well as changes in the power station.

As a first step, the network operator of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG expanded the relevant substations and transformer installations. For the entire project, a common project management between the employer and contractor is employed. SAG thereby takes on the entire responsibility for eight of the total of 14 projects and proves its competency by handling such a complex project. In the sense of a functional turnkey service, SAG develops a concept, designs the facility layout and undertakes the entire engineering, installation and commissioning. All work is carried out without repercussions during ongoing operation. For the employer, this means high planning and financial security as well as process continuity over a long time period.

So that everything also functions correctly on site, SAG also takes on the entire material and construction site management in close coordination with EnBW. There are about 1,000 tons of steel construction, ten kilometres of aluminium piping for busbars and more than 500 support insulators, not exactly a small amount to manage there. Furthermore, it includes the entire preparatory construction and handling including civil engineering, the installation and the electrotechnical expansion.
